book has been written to cover the 'Cambridge IGCSETM International Mathematics (0607)Extendedsyllabus for examination from 2020.The course springs from the principles that students should develop a good foundation of mathematical skillsand that they should learn to develop strategies for solving open-ended problems. It aims to promote apositive attitude towards Mathematics and a confidence that leads to further enquiry.References to the syllabus are made throughout but the book can be used as a full course in its own right,as apreparation for GCE Advanced Level Mathematics or IB Diploma Mathematics, for example. The book hasbeen endorsed by Cambridge Assessment International Education. The textbook and interactive online features provide an engaging and structured package, allowing studentsto explore and develop their confidence in mathematics. The material is presented ih a clear,easy-to-followstyle,free from unnecessary distractions, while effort has been made to contextualise questions so thatstudents can relate concepts to everyday use.In this second edition, many of the chapters have beenreordered and restructured, allowing for a more logical progression of ideas and difficulty.Seven chapters of'assumed knowledge'are accessible online for those who want to ensure that they have theprerequisite levels of understanding for the course. To reflect one of the main aims of the course, the last twochapters in the book are devoted to multi-topic questions, and investigations and modelling.Review exercisesappear at the end of each chapter, and answers are given at the end of the book. The accompanying digital book is accessed through our Snowflake platform. It containsSelf Tutor software (see p.5),geometry and graphics software, demonstrations and simulations, and theassumed knowledge chapters. The digital book is a complete copy of the text of the book,so students canview it on a home computer or tablet and keep the textbook at school. The Cambridge International Mathematics examinations are in the form of three papers:one a non-calculatorpaper,another requiring the use of a graphics calculator, and a third paper containing an investigation and amodelling question. This book supports all three papers. The book can be used as a scheme of work but it is expected that the teacher will choose the order of topics.Exercises in the book range from routine practice and consolidation of basic skills,to problem solvingexercises that are quite demandingIn this changing world of mathematics education,we believe that the contextual approach shown in thisbook, with the associated use of technology, will enhance the students'understanding, knowledge andappreciation of mathematics, and its universal application. We welcome your feedback.Email:info@haesemathematics.com.auWeb:www.haesemathematics.com.auPMH.MH.NV
